Level 2 walkthrough
Meowdoku Level 2 Walkthrough: Follow the Chain of Five Forced Cats
Meowdoku Level 2 grows the board to 5×5 and shows how one forced cat hands you the next. This guide explains the rose opener, the chain that follows, and the finished grid.
Meowdoku Level 2 is the second board in Meowdoku, a free cat puzzle game that runs right in your browser. The grid is now five rows tall and five columns wide, and five colored regions need one cat each. As always, every row and every column also gets exactly one cat, and no two cats may touch, not even at the corners.
This level is a gentle step up from the opening board, which makes it a lovely stop for anyone who enjoys cat games, animal games, or relaxed logic puzzle games. Every cat on Meowdoku Level 2 is found with the same simple idea: spot a color with only one open tile left. Below, we look at the board, explain the first cat, and show how each placement sets up the one after it.

Meowdoku Level 2 at a glance
- Board: 5×5 grid with 5 colored regions and 5 cats to place
- Difficulty: Beginner
- Hardest technique needed: Last open tile in a color
- Logical steps: 5 (5 cats and 0 crosses)
- Smallest color: rose with 1 tile
What the Meowdoku Level 2 board looks like
The 5×5 board holds five colors: rose, apricot, butter, matcha, and mint. The rose region is a single tile at row 1, column 2. Apricot and matcha are both small three-tile shapes, apricot tucked into the top right corner and matcha sitting on the left edge in rows 3 and 4.
Butter is a seven-tile patch across the upper left, and mint is the giant of this cat puzzle game board with eleven tiles, covering the whole bottom row and reaching up the right side. Big regions like mint look scary, but in Meowdoku they usually get settled last, once the smaller colors have used up their rows and columns.
Opening move: the lonely rose tile
Your first cat on Meowdoku Level 2 goes on row 1, column 2, the only rose tile on the board. Each color must hold one cat, and rose simply has no other choice, so you can double-tap that tile with total confidence.
Once the rose cat is in, cross out the rest of row 1, the rest of column 2, and the tiles touching it. That quick bit of tidying is what makes browser games like this feel so smooth: the board immediately tells you where the next cat has to go.
How each cat unlocks the next color
Meowdoku Level 2 is a pure chain. The rose cat empties row 1, which removes two of the three apricot tiles and leaves apricot with just row 2, column 5. The apricot cat then fills row 2, so butter loses its row 2 tiles, and with column 2 already taken, butter is left with only row 3, column 3.
The butter cat knocks out row 3, column 1 through its row and row 4, column 2 through a diagonal touch, so matcha has one home left at row 4, column 1. By now rows 1 to 4 each hold a cat, so the mint cat must sit in row 5, and the only free column there is column 4. That gives the final cat at row 5, column 4.
Notice that you never needed a clever trick. This is why Meowdoku works so well among brain games for beginners: each move is small, and each one is fully explained by the cats already on the board.
Habits from Level 2 that help in later Meowdoku boards
The chain you just followed is the backbone of every Meowdoku level, even the tough ones. Practising it here makes larger free online games boards far less intimidating.
- Count the tiles in each color and begin with the smallest one.
- After placing a cat, rescan the colors that share its row or column first.
- Remember that a diagonal touch removes a tile just as surely as a shared row does.
- Leave the biggest region for last, since earlier cats will shrink it for you.
- If you lose track, a hint shows the next forced cat without spoiling the rest.
Step-by-step Meowdoku Level 2 solution
Every cat below is forced by logic, in the order a careful solver finds them. No guessing is needed. If you only want a nudge, read one step, close this page, and return to the game.
Cat 1: row 1, column 2 (rose)
The rose region has only one open tile left, so its cat goes on row 1, column 2. Technique: Last open tile in a color.
Cat 2: row 2, column 5 (apricot)
With the rows, columns, and neighbors of the first cat crossed out, the apricot region has only one open tile left, so its cat goes on row 2, column 5. Technique: Last open tile in a color.
Cat 3: row 3, column 3 (butter)
With the rows, columns, and neighbors of the 2 cats placed so far crossed out, the butter region has only one open tile left, so its cat goes on row 3, column 3. Technique: Last open tile in a color.
Cat 4: row 4, column 1 (matcha)
With the rows, columns, and neighbors of the 3 cats placed so far crossed out, the matcha region has only one open tile left, so its cat goes on row 4, column 1. Technique: Last open tile in a color.
Cat 5: row 5, column 4 (mint)
With the rows, columns, and neighbors of the 4 cats placed so far crossed out, the mint region has only one open tile left, so its cat goes on row 5, column 4. Technique: Last open tile in a color.
Meowdoku Level 2 solved board
Here is the finished board. Every row, every column, and every color holds exactly one cat, and no two cats touch, not even at the corners.
